Easiest Way to Prepare Delicious Daikon Mochi
Daikon Mochi. This easy fried Daikon Mochi using a fresh and juicy daikon radish is a Japanese-style Chinese Turnip Cake or radish cake also known as "law bok gow." Originally, turnip cake is steamed in a container but today we're pan-frying it to make quick and easy daikon mochi. Daikon radish mochi cakes with dried shrimp or bacon chips are delicious too, but I love plain ones that really highlight the flavor of the daikon radish. Use a heatproof container or any suitable container you have as a mold.
It is a rubbery chewy thick paste made of steamed short-grain glutinous rice pounded. There are some easier methods to make 'Mochi'. This is a very simple savoury 'Mochi'. You can cook Daikon Mochi using 10 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve that.
Ingredients of Daikon Mochi
- You need 3 inches of of daikon, peeled.
- You need 1/3 cup of chopped shrimp.
- It's 1/2 cup of chopped shiitake mushrooms, dried or fresh.
- You need 1/3 cup of chopped satsuma-age or kamaboko.
- You need 1/2 cup of chopped green onions.
- You need 1 teaspoon of dashi powder.
- Prepare 1 tablespoon of potato or corn starch.
- It's 1 tablespoon of flour.
- It's of shoyu (soy sauce).
- You need of salt & pepper.
Ingredients are Daikon (White Radish), Glutinous Rice Flour and Salt. Grate it and squeeze out some of the juice. Tip: It tastes even better with some juice left behind. In a bowl, mix the grated daikon, potato starch, dashi powder and sesame seeds and make small balls.

- Grate daikon and drain. (Do not squeeze the juice out too much though!).
- Chop some shrimp, dried shiitake mushrooms (after soaked in water), satsuma-age or kamaboko, and green onions..
